Disengaging is the act of withdrawing from or ceasing to take part in an activity, conversation, or relationship. It can be seen as a means of self-protection, a way to avoid getting hurt, or simply a way to take a break. It’s all about taking a step back and not letting yourself get too wrapped up in things.
